GARY CHAMPI is a dance educator, performer, and choreographer based in Southern California. He has worked in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York, for many choreographers, touring nationally and abroad since 2008. From 2011-2020, he worked for the Merce Cunningham Trust in many capacities, and is authorized to teach Cunningham Technique®. His creative work has been presented in Seattle, New York, and Italy. His dance scholarship involves historical reconstructions through performance and the commercialization of Hip Hop dance and its global presence. Gary is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Pomona College, with education from Stanford University and the University of Washington.
